Bow & Butterflies

This pretty little cake was for a baby shower. The floral design mimics the pattern on the bedding for the new baby girl. The bedding also had butterfly applique so I decided to take that element and make it 3D and have a trail of them cascading down and around the cake. The cake was white chocolate with strawberry buttercream filling. Bow and butterflies created out of fondant. Cake covered with and flower cutouts made of tinted white modeling chocolate.

My name is Patty Pittman Asken, I am the designer, sculpter, and owner of sweet P sweets, inc. I attended the School of the Art Instutite of Chicago, and Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. I have a passion for sculpture, which I now translate into the ever growing industry of cake design. I owe a lot to my mom and grandma Fagan for passing down the knowledge of cake baking, and designing with chocolate!!! I now live in Illinois with my ever so busy family of four boys and my husband, or should I say five boys!
